Riley Pickrell has taken victory from a bunch sprint on a chaotic day of racing on stage 2 at the 2023 Tour de l'Avenir.
Surprisingly, as it was a relatively flat day, expected to be one for the sprinters, race leader Anders Foldager was part of the breakaway out front. With 36km to go, Foldager was left all alone as the remainder of his breakaway companions dropped away.
Once he was caught though, the race really began to break down. Into the final 10km, the road furniture caused a pair of crashes, splitting the bunch. In the sprint it was Riley Pickrell who took the win despite a somewhat premature celebration by the Polish sprinter.
