Primoz Roglic has had the bad luck of crashing hard two days in a row. Itzulia Basque Country was not the best of weeks for the BORA - hansgrohe rider who started off the week with a powerful win in the time-trial but has now abandoned the race injured. However, the worst has been avoided.
"Examinations undertaken at the hospital have shown that Roglic has not sustained any fractures as a result of his fall on today's stage of Itzulia," BORA - hansgrohe wrote in a message shared. "Heal up soon, Primož! We also wish all the other riders involved in the crash well."
Roglic has avoided big injuries or fractures after his fall, a positive outcome after the Slovenian spent several minutes in a ditch next to the road and several riders who were severely injured.

Lucky boy. That could have been worse. Others are not as lucky though.

Seems his body got used to it, just about the only one who didn’t break anything.

So, how come so many broke something, was it just from falling, the bumpy surface of the road or obstacles on the side they hit or what?

Or are they testing a replacement for Tramadol this year with different side effects?

I have a feeling that the ones that broke bones were the ones that crashed straight into that concrete ditch, or the large rocks that were right beside it.

I think an old fashioned sized straw bale costs around one Euro, probably less in those parts.

Small investment if you can’t borrow them, very environmentally friendly, useful as seats or viewpoints, known to be implemented in local amateur races all over the world.
