There has been an absolutely disastrous crash on stage 4 of the 2024 Itzulia Basque Country with some of the stars of the race crashing hard into a concrete ditch.
Although Remco Evenepoel was one of the first to go off-road, the Soudal - Quick-Step leader managed to avoid the concrete ditch, instead rolling on the grass through the trees. Both Jonas Vingegaard and Primoz Roglic however ended up in great difficulty with all three of the stars looking in incredible pain and staying down to receive medical attention.
Whilst we don't want to speculate, things don't look good and we send best wishes go out to all involved.

I hope they do some in-depth investigations after this, looking at tires and rims, punctures, etc. abnormal how much these guys are all sliding out of corners at high speeds this year, it’s not as if they’re not used to judging speed.

Hope no-one is playing around with putting stuff on the roads.

Rough year if you ask me and some will lose half the season, this is going to completely rewrite the TdF too.

So far Pog has been lucky and the Giro shouldn’t be too difficult for him so he won’t have to take risks or stick around when things get nervous.

Is he the only noteworthy since MvdP in Glasgow that hasn’t fallen?

That was one of the most disturbing crashes that I've seen in a while, and it's a horrible thing to see injured riders on the ground like that. It's been a rough week for riders in the pro peloton, with the crash of Wout van Aert last week, and now this unfortunate incident. Hopefully the injuries aren't too serious, and all the riders involved can make a quick and full recovery.
