Alpecin-Deceuninck rider Sjoerd Bax is enjoying the end of the season. The Dutchman recently relished victory in Coppa Agostoni last month, he managed to sign a contract with the UAE Emirates, and his latest achievement comes from Tour de Langkawi, where he sprinted to victory in the seventh stage.
"I knew the form was still good," Bax said in post race interview. He continues, "The team is riding great this week. We already had two wins and I knew today's course would suit me. I knew I had a chance. In the third stage I suffered a lot from the heat, but today I was able to deal with it. Then to finish it like that is great."
Bax was sent to catpure the escapees but without any support he decided to solo attack and joined the breakaway. Bax beat the duo Willie Smit and Adria Moreno, in the final sprint and got his second victory of the season. "We didn't work quite well together, At one point, I had a gap and decided to accelerate. I kept the lead and joined the early escapees," Bax concluded.
