Rumours have been circulating regarding
Mark Cavendish joining B&B Hotels-KTM next season. Yesterday wielerflits reported that Cavendish officially signed with the French team. In recent months, Cavendish's relationship with his team Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl has deteriorated after he was excluded from the
Tour de France lineup.
A record of 34 stage wins in the Tour de France was set by legendary rider Eddy Merckx during his career. Cavendish hopes to surpass that record. Cavendish had grand plans to make it 35 stage victories this year, but his team had different ideas.
His disappointment drove him to seek a new team that could guarantee him a place in next year's lineup. elsewhere. In order to get help, he reached out to the Dutch management agency SEG Cycling. It is reported that they helped secure a contract with B&B Hotels-KTM. Max Richeze and Ramon Sinkeldam are expected to make the move aswell, whilst Cees Bol will be yet another fast card in the team's deck.
Previously the French team was experiencing financial troubles, but now that Carrefour has signed on as a sponsor and the budget for next season has been increased, the team has also applied for a WorldTour licence. As of yet, neither Cavendish nor B&B Hotels-KTM have confirmed the news, however a team announcement is expected on the 26th of October, where many of these signings may be revealed.
