Three years after his last participation, during which he took a fine 16th place, Aurélien Paret-Peintre will make his return to the roads of the Giro d'Italia. The French climber will obviously be the leader of the AG2R Citroën Team formation, with the ambition of getting a top 10.
"I come to this Giro for the general classification, but if there are opportunities for stage victories I I'm going to try to slip in on it," he explained at a press conference on Wednesday.
"All will be at the service of Aurélien but we'll also work towards the quest of getting a stage victory. We know how to do it and it will once again be a major objective for the AG2R Citroën team on this Giro", explains sports manager Laurent Biondi.
Aurélien Paret-Peintre will be accompanied by some experienced climbers - Mikaël Cherel and Larry Warbasse, as well as his younger brother Valentin. Andrea Vendrame, Alex Baudin, Paul Lapeira and Nicolas Prodhomme will try to succeed from breakaways.
