After two harder stages, it was finally time for Intermarché - Wanty sprinter Arne Marit to get down to work at Volta a Comunitat Valenciana. And the 25-year-old Belgian didn't disappoint with a second place in his first sprint of the new season, losing only to Jonathan Milan.
"I already felt yesterday that the legs were good. I only had to let go of the front group with some 500 meters from the top," Marit began the interview for Eurosport after the third stage.
"We knew that if we could make it to the last corner in a perfect position, then it's already half the work done. And we managed to get there with three guys in first position, so that was quite good. I didn't quite have the final push, but it's nice to finish second in the first sprint of the season."
Stage four will be one for the climbers, but what about the final stage to Valencia? Will it be an opportunity for Marit? "I remember Rui Costa won that stage last year and he was already dropped on the climb. And if it was too hard for Costa, then it¨'s gonna be too hard for me too. But I'll try and we'll see."
