TotalEnergies' Anthony Turgis couldn't replicate his performance from last year's Milan-San Remo, where he finished on the podium, and had to be content with the 9th position this time around.
But he is not disappointed with his performance as he was able to retain a position under top 10 for the third consecutive time. In 2021 he finished at 10th position which he upgraded to second in 2022 and slipped to 9th this year.
He reflects on the pivotal moment that caused him to miss out on the podium. "The legs were there, but there was this mistake in the middle of the climb because with the wind, I didn't want to make too much effort, but there was a break. Maybe I had the legs to go, that's how it is.”
