Another rider leaves Movistar Team: Johan Jacobs departs for Groupama - FDJ

Johan Jacobs leaves Movistar Team after five seasons in which he has not fully realised the potential he seemed to have when he finished second in 2019 at Paris-Roubaix Espoirs.

The Swiss, now 27, is leaving for Groupama - FDJ after failing to take a single victory in the seasons he has been with the team. This year, for example, his best result comes from The Traka 200, a gravel race in which he finished third.

On the road, not a top 10 beyond the two achieved in the Swiss national championships both on the road and time trial. It is clear that the cyclist has not been able to develop in his years with the Movistar Team (this year he finished 38th in the Roubaix) and the best thing for the squad and for himself is an exit. We'll see if in FDJ he can at least be a good support rider for men like Stefan Kung or Romain Gregoire in the early season classics.
