It is not easy to stay in the top category of sport, and cycling is no exception. There are few who have managed to do so for a longer period and
Andrey Amador is on of those, as with 15 professional seasons under his belt, he confirms there's still more left for him.
"I have a contract until 2025, I will be almost 39 years old when I am at the end of the contract," he told Ciclismo Internacional exclusively about the publicly unknown length of his contract with
EF Education-EasyPost.
"It's not easy, there are many variables in sport, but the nice thing would be to put an end to it when I consider the time comes. It would be a sufficient age in which I would feel that I left nothing unfinished, that I had experiences, met people and places. And the time also comes to give way to the family, my daughters are grown up and I would like to share with them," explained the Costa Rican.
Looking ahead, Amador recognizes that he was not at the level that he knew how to show, even from his years at INEOS. "My time at INEOS was not the best, I did not find myself personally. I faced last year without going to a grand tour for two seasons, unmotivated and overweight. This year I am better, more motivated, at a better weight, with more competition, something that is needed at my age. I hope to be at a better level next season," he reflected.
