At almost 35 years old, Giacomo Nizzolo has launched a final challenge by signing a two-year contract with the Swiss team Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team. The Italian comes out of two complicated seasons at Israel - Premier Tech, with only two victories in two seasons, which was rather disappointing for a sprinter of his caliber.
The only bright moments in these two years disrupted by health problems will be his victory in May over Tro-Bro Léon. "Winning is never easy and the victory in France was the highlight of the season. After the summer break, I did not find my best pedal stroke. 2023 was not an exciting year for me. I consider Tro-Bro Léon a great satisfaction, but it is clear that I hoped for more," he explained in comments reported by Tuttobiciweb.
Currently training on the Spanish coast, in Altea, Giacomo Nizzolo has already announced his objectives for the 2024 season, during which he will reunite with several of his former teammates, such as Matteo Moschetti, Gianluca Brambilla or Carl Fredrik Hagen, but also members staff from his previous teams like Douglas Ryder. "For me, it's like coming home. Surrounded by people with whom I have worked for a long time, I hope to find serenity and results."
"We hope to be invited to Milan-Sanremo, I would like to participate. I would also like to tackle the cobbled classics in great shape, in particular Ghent – Wevelgem which I almost won in 2021. This is the edition where I came second. It's a classic that is close to my heart. For this new year, I wish a lot of serenity for my family and a victory in Ghent-Wevelgem," concluded Nizzolo.
