There has been a noticeable absence of news surrounding
Amy Pieters, which is attributable to her difficult rehabilitation process. Multiple epileptic seizures in a short span of time have hampered her recovery and slowed her progress.
A setback in her mobility and the challenges of adjusting to new medication have made it difficult for her to maintain motivation towards recovery. This is a challenging period for both her and those who work and interact with her.
While Pieters can convey her agreement or disagreement with responses, it is not yet viable to hold a conversation with her through sentences. Her primary means of communication involves using facial expressions.
She likes to go for bike rides outside, and to support her passion, the Amy Pieters foundation has purchased a specialized bicycle for her, along with an alarm system that can notify in case of an epileptic episode.
In spite of the adversity, Pieters' family is staying hopeful that things will improve in the near future. “Hope and motivation that Amy will show us some nice results. After all, Amy remains our champion.”
