The third stage of Vuelta a Andalucia was won by UAE Emirates rider Tim Wellens, who secured victory by being the fastest in the final sprint and crossing the finish line ahead of all other riders. Pierre Latour came in second place, while Samuele Battistella completed the podium.
The breakaway included Matej Mohoric, Joe Dombrowski, Iván García Cortina, Nelson Oliveira, Alessandro Covi, Christopher Juul-Jensen, Julen Amezqueta, Davide Bais, Frederik Frison, Luis Angel Mate, Aaron Van Poucke and Alex Colman. The group worked together and established a lead of 5 minutes and 10 seconds.
Despite reducing the gap to 3 minutes and 45 seconds, Peloton couldn't overtake the front group, while multiple attempts of solo attacks in the last 10 kilometres were thwarted. José Manuel Díaz, Hugo Houle and Samuele Battistella were successful in their attack and took a lead of 8 seconds. But they also failed. It was Tim Wellens who played his cards right and attacked with 200 meters to go.
Tim Wellens was the fastest and crossed the finish line to secure the win. Pierre Latour finished second and Samuele Battistella took the bronze.
