Alpecin-Fenix have announced that they have pulled out of the Tour de Suisse after two of their riders tested positive for Covid-19.
The team did not reveal which riders tested positive, but with neither Mathieu van der Poel or Jasper Philipsen present the team will be having a sigh of relief. Alpecin-Fenix were only one of the teams to have pulled out of the race, as the Covid-19 outbreak is ongoing and has affected dozens of riders up until this point.
Race leader Aleksandr Vlasov abandoned the race, and not only are several GC contenders for the Tour de France at risk, but also the Swiss race is taking a different form as Jakob Fuglsang will instead be the race leader into the mountains.
