Bahrain - Victorious are currently in a complicated situation, with a second raid in the space of a week revealing the capture of some unknown products. Whilst no accusation has proved successful until now, the process is regarding the use of prohibited substances.
“Law enforcement and judicial authorities in France, Belgium, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Poland and Slovenia have carried out a coordinated action against the use of prohibited substances in cycling races," a statement from Eurojust. This was the first raid of the week, in which it was said that “412 capsules with undetermined brown content and 67 capsules with undetermined white content" were found in Slovenia.
With the content unclear, it's hard to understand what the next step will be in the process or what it means. With Bahrain - Victorious delivering mixed messages on the results of the investigations, the case remains a complicated issue - which the team has directly refused to talk about during the pre-race race conference.
The likes of Damiano Caruso and Dylan Teuns are said to have had their homes searched, alongside other riders, an osteopath, a manager and a team doctor.
