Despite some difficulties along the stage, the peloton paced in a comfortable rhythm for the sprinters.

Groupama-FDJ took control of the last km until the last 300 meters where Uno-X team did an amazing leadout to his sprinter, the veteran Alexander Kristoff who showed that the veterans can still win in cycling.
Alexander Kristoff was the first to cross the finish line ahead of Jordi Meeus (Bora-Hansgrohe) and his teammate Soren Waerenskjold, becoming the first leader of this year edition of Volta ao Algarve.
