Tadej Pogacar's solo attack propels him to victory in Vuelta a Andalucia first stage

The first stage of the Vuelta a Andalucia was won by Tadej Pogacar.

He launched an attack with 11 kilometers remaining and maintained it until the finish line.

After covering a few kilometres, we were able to witness the first attempt of breakaway featuring Christopher Juul Jensen, David Bais, Alex Martín, Xabier Isasa, Cyril Barthe, Vanhoof, and Joel Nicolau.

But they were soon neutralised by the peloton. Alex Martin, Gotzon Martin, Clément Alleno and Aaron Van Poucke formed today’s breakaway. They were able to create a gap of 1 minute and 15 seconds.

Only two riders, Alleno and Van Poucke, were able to maintain the lead. However, the duo was caught 21.7 kilometres before the finish line. Tadej Pogacar attacked with 11 kilometres to go. He quickly gained a 30-second lead.

Tadej Pogacar crossed the finish line 30 seconds ahead of his competitors and took the first-stage win. Mikel Landa finished second and Carlos Rodríguez took the bronze.
