Alberto Contador signs 2 Colombians for his EOLO-KOMETA

Transfers & Negotiations. Alberto Contador, the two-time Tour de France champion, is in charge of his own team, EOLO-KOMETA , which competes in the ProTeam category and aims to continue ascending the European cycling scene.

However, the team will have to make adjustments for next year, as it will lose two of its main riders. Lorenzo Fortunato and Vincenzo Albanese will leave Contador's squad, which is also managed by another cycling legend, Iván Basso. To cover these absences, the team has set its sights on two Colombian cyclists.

Santiago Umba and Jhonatan Restrepo would be chosen by Eolo Kometa. Both riders are currently part of the GW Shimano Sidermec team, led by Italian Gianni Savio.

Santiago Umba, a 20-year-old cyclist born in Arcabuco (Boyacá), has always been by Savio's side since the days of Androni Giocattolli. Jonathan Restrepo, 28, has competed on teams like Katusha and Androni Giocattolli himself.

It should be noted that Restrepo will be one of the cyclists who will participate in the 2023 edition of the Tour of Colombia, a race that will begin on June 16.

The departure of Fortunato and Albanese from the Eolo Kometa team represents a significant loss of talent and experience. However, the addition of Umba and Restrepo brings new Colombian talent to the team. Colombian cyclists have a solid reputation in the world of professional cycling, known for their mountain skills and tenacity.

For Contador, the challenge lies in integrating these new riders into the team and maintaining a competitive edge in European cycling. The E OLO-KOMETA team has been constantly improving and gaining recognition, and its continued growth will be a testament to Contador's leadership and strategic decisions.

As the cycling season progresses, it will be interesting to see how Umba and Restrepo adjust to their new surroundings and contribute to the team's success. His participation in races such as the Tour de France and other major events will be an opportunity to showcase his talents on the international stage.

In conclusion, Alberto Contador faces the task of reorganizing the Eolo Kometa team for the next season. The departure of Fortunato and Albanese opens the door for Santiago Umba and Jonathan Restrepo to join the team. As the team evolves and seeks more success, the Colombian duo will play a crucial role in the team's future projects. Cycling enthusiasts will be eager to see how the team performs and whether Contador's vision for the Eolo Kometa propels them to new heights in European cycling.
