Alberto Contador's project in danger - Sponsor EOLO will leave at the end of the 2023 season

Problems for Alberto Contador and Ivan Basso's project. Their ProTeam, EOLO-KOMETA, has been improving its level year after year and improving its performance in the best races in the world, but to continue advancing they will have to do it without their main partner.

Its main sponsor, the Italian company Eolo, ends its contract at the end of the current season 2023 and has decided not to renew its commitment to the transalpine team. Despite this, the project formed by EOLO-KOMETA and the Alberto Contador Foundation want to continue growing and have published a statement in which they make it very clear that their intention is to find another sponsor of guarantees to continue moving towards the WorldTour.

Thus, they have published on their web and on their social networks a statement in which they say they are looking for a sponsor to continue growing:

'The EOLO KOMETA team and the Alberto Contador Foundation face with determination the challenge of evolving and growing for next season. The great performance in terms of results during the months of April and May, with the culmination of Davide Bais' victory in the Giro d'Italia stage finishing in Gran Sasso, has undoubtedly put the spotlight on our project and its next steps.

Our sporting future, that of the Alberto Contador Foundation, is settled and guaranteed. However, we need a 'title sponsor' that allows us to continue taking steps forward, face new horizons with ambition and become one of the best teams in the Professional Continental category, always with the goal of reaching the best races, such as the Tour de France. It is time to find new travel partners to help us make even bigger this project that has already exceeded a decade of existence.

The sporting structure of EOLO KOMETA and the Alberto Contador Foundation are attractive, serious, ambitious, professional, committed and with enormous potential. But it is not enough for us to maintain what we have achieved. We are determined to look ahead. We must not lose our essence, but move forward and continue to aspire to the maximum. We want to consolidate a comprehensive project that covers all categories and modalities, with the tranquility of the current support and commitments for several seasons that are maintained with the riders; but in search of a new 'title sponsor' that allows us to set new goals and objectives.

We are determined to go one step further. We are an ideal showcase to generate brand, image and repercussion of all those who support us. We are working to reach, among all the open negotiations, the best agreement that will allow us to grow. The Alberto Contador Foundation and the EOLO KOMETA sports teams are born out of passion, and with that same passion and determination they will continue their work and pursue their goals'.
