So far some is making the assumptions that the breakaway got a better advantage than the peloton from the motorbikes. All based on comments from riders that did not make it to the sprint and did not actually see what was going on in the break. So it is anyone's guess if not analyzed. In general filming the breakaway can be done from more angles than the peloton, ie more filming from the side and behind of the riders in the break. Certainly looked like the case yesterday also. Hushovd pointed out that once inside the city it is harder to catch the breakaway as they are more shielded from wind versus a normal stage in more open landscape. In addition both Dversnes and Maerci had targeted this stage, saying that it suits them very well and it is likely they have saved power for it.

at one point a motorbike was giving the PELOTON such a draft that a Uno X rider was madly waving it away. one could see it during the broadcast. it was obvious and hilarious. both sides got helped. the breakaway outfoxed the peloton.

the chasers had a motorbike in front of them too. at one point a UNO X rider was furiously waving it away. motorbikes didn’t make the difference. it helped both sides

this guy is unbelievable. I guess we’ll never see him at roubaix. I do NOT want crashes. I want to see the most skilled riders in the world navigating all types of courses. the course does not cause crashes, lack of skill and discipline in the riders cause crashes. Jonas has such little skill. he almost falls over on every winning finish when he raises his hands in victory. he is so wobbly.

I'm guessing that paying 50m euros or so for a little cycling team is an absolute drop in the ocean for these petroleum bajillionnaires

Zonneveld's criticisms have always come when his countryman Groenewegen has been unable to sprint. Stage 1 - barriers (legitimate) Stage 6 - cobbles (Zonneveld wants to tarmack Paris-Roubaix) Stage 15 - motorbikes

i don't really get your point. are you basically saying that it's ok that riders ahead of the peloton get moto-assistance?
