Truck driver responsible for death of Davide Rebellin hospitalized with ischemic stroke

Wolfgang Rieke, the truck driver who caused the death of Davide Rebellin on 30 November 2022, is hospitalized in very serious conditions in Treviso hospital. The German lorry driver would have suffered an ischemic stroke. The first hearing of the judicial process at the Court of Vicenza will probably be postponed due to legitimate impediment of a party.

Wolfgang Rieke, the truck driver who hit and caused the death of the late Davide Rebellin, has been hospitalized since last night at Treviso hospital for a presumed ischemic stroke. The hearing was originally scheduled for Monday May 27.

The 62-year-old German lorry driver was extradited last summer, after the Hamm Court accepted the request forwarded to him by the Vicenza Prosecutor's Office. Accused of vehicular homicide and hit-and-run, Rieke should have attended court today, but his lawyers have presented a request to postpone the hearing due to legitimate impediment.

The first hearing was to include the examination of the expert reports on the accident site and the vehicle involved.
