Jasper Stuyven crowned European Gravel Champion in Belgium

Lidl-Trek's Jasper Stuyven has taken the victory in Oud-Heverlee and crowned himself both the new European Champion and Belgian Champion on the gravel
With plenty of familiar names taking to the start line, the likes of Jan Bakelants, Petr Vakoc, Laurens ten Dam, Eli Iserbyt, Laurens Sweeck, Gianni and Florian Vermeersch, Tim Merlier, Daniel Oss, Alessandro De Marchi, Thibau Nys, Jasper Stuyven himself and the Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas all attempting to become European Champion.
In the end, it was Stuyven who took victory, attacking with just over 20km to go, and in the end winning comfortably ahead of Tim Merlier in second and Paul Voss in third with both Vermeersch's rounding out the top 5.

Devant son public, Jasper Stuyven (Lidl-Trek) est devenu le premier champion d'Europe de gravel. Le Belge a terminé avec 1'21" d'avance sur un groupe réglé par Tim Merlier (Soudal-QuickStep). L'Allemand Paul Voss, à la retraite depuis fin 2016, a complété le podium.
