Greg Van Avermaet joins Petr Vakoc in Gravel Team Last Dance: "I'm looking forward to discovering new locations, competitions and gravel roads"

The 38-year-old Greg Van Avermaet, who hung up his road bike last year, has found a new challenge. The former Olympic champion will participate in gravel races at the highest level. Together with fellow ex-pro Petr Vakoc, he has joined 'Team Last Dance', put together by cycling clothing brand Isadore.

"My motivation for participating in the project is to remain active after a rich career on the road," says Van Avermaet. "I see it more as a transition period where I can keep moving and experience a different kind of cycling. My first thought was to do some gravel races on my own, but I realized it would be even better to be part of a group and have a fun vibe together," he explained to HLN.

"I'm most looking forward to discovering new locations, competitions and gravel roads. In this part of my career, the most important thing is to enjoy the adventure and I am sure this opportunity will bring me that."
