Mathieu van der Poel has continued her perfect start to his winter cyclocross campaign with a dominant victory at the latest round of UCI
World Cup action in Antwerp.
Despite a disastrous start that saw van der Poel caught up behind a Tom Pidcock crash, the Dutchman slowly but surely worked his way up the field, picking off riders one by one. At the start of lap 3, van der Poel had made it all the way back to the front and after a short breather, the world champion powered on again with a brutal attack in the sand.
From there, van der Poel was solo for the remainder of the race. In the chase behind, no one either could or would mount the charge and the gap continued to grow all the way to the finish line.
