It was another missed opportunity for Tom Pidcock to take his first World Cup victory to Dublin. Despite his best efforts, he found himself third behind Wout van Aert and Laurens Sweeck.
"The course of the race was strange,” said Pidcock. He continues, “The front group was quite big, and there weren't really any points to make the difference. I didn't really expect that. I really had to fight for a podium spot on the last lap."
It wasn't an easy start for him, but he managed to catch up to the front group on the next lap. Although he did not encounter any misfortune today, it was simply not his day in Dublin. "I did try to ride faster at one point, but I couldn't. I rode the whole cross a bit at the same pace. I don't really understand where that came from. I gave everything but couldn't really go any faster today. It was a tricky cross," concluded Pidcock.
