B&B Hotels-KTM's collapse has led to many riders being left without a contract, however several are now being scooped by World Tour teams.
Luca Mozzato, who scored by far the most UCI points out of it's riders this season, has been signed by Arkéa Samsic.
Mozzato was one of the riders who did not have to fear about his future. At 24 years of age he developed as the leading figure of the French team this year, consistently performing throughout the year mainly in the hilly classics and sprints. He finished close to the Top50 of the best-scoring riders of the year, almost half of that of B&B Hotels' second best rider. It had emerged that he was in contact with Trek - Segafredo and Arkéa Samsic, and a transfer was imminent over the last few days.
"Signing with Arkéa-Samsic represents a great opportunity for me given the situation I've been in for the past few days," Mozzato said in a press release. "I am also happy to stay in France, to continue to wear the Breton colors within an even stronger team, which will join the UCI WorldTour in 2023." He will make his World Tour debut next year as Arkéa have been promoted over their strong seasons.
"I feel good in France. I speak the language, I like the races on your national calendar. I feel that I will fit in very quickly. Like any racer, I have the goal and the desire to win, and for me this would coincide with unlocking my victory counter among the professionals," he continued.
A classics specialist, Mozzato will fit in very well with the team's block that will feature similar riders such as Amaury Capiot, Hugo Hofstetter and Matis Louvel. Although the team has been promoted to World Tour level, Mozzato can surely help secure the team's future in the top division of cycling when the rankings take their toll again in 2025.
"Of course, I can also put myself at the service of the collective in order to help other sprinters achieve success. I have ambition as an individual, but the collective word also matters to me. I will hold the role that the sports directors will give me," he concluded.
