Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado was crowned cyclo-cross world champion for the first time in 2020. And if it is up to the 25-year-old Dutch woman, a second world title will be added this season...
"I am really satisfied with last winter, especially because I was making some kind of progress towards the end," said Alvarado.
"This year it all starts a little later than usual, but other than that my program will look about the same as last year. I am really satisfied with last winter, especially because I was making some kind of progress towards the end. Hopefully I can continue that this year. Of course I would prefer to do it even better!"
In her own words, Alvarado has done few things differently in the preparation for the cyclo-cross season compared to previous years. "I just did a mix of mountain bike and road again, although last year it may have been a little more road than mountain bike. But that mainly had to do with my health at the time. This year I just feel great, so that's good." When will the cyclo-cross season be a success for the ambitious Alvarado? "When I become world champion!," she says with a burst of laughter and of course a big wink.
