Marianne Vos - "A win is always very nice, It was really tough, but it was worth it"

Marianne Vos got her first win of the cyclocross season in the X2O Trophy Kortrijk. She beat Denise Betsema and Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado to secure the victory.

"It was a very fast race, Betsema set the pace very high," said Vos in the post-race interview. She continues, "When Alvarado hooked up, I knew she was going to try something in the last lap. She created a gap, but I stayed as close to her as possible to compete for the win. In the last lap, I gave everything. The sand strip was one of the parts where I had to stay focused and not make a mistake. After the last corner, it was just a sprint to the finish."

Having finally won a cyclocross race after seven races, she is happy. “When it goes fast, it's tough for everyone. That's the beauty of cyclocross. It's a really nice lap here, with everything in it. It was really fun. A win is always very nice. I'm glad I could compete like this today, it's a nice feeling to win then. It was really tough, but it was worth it," Vos concluded.
