Lander Loockx ends his cyclocross season after no nomination for Tábor: "I would have liked to continue my season until the World Championships"

World Championships was never Lander Loockx's goal this winter, but once the 26-year-old got rolling, he suddenly found himself in a shape that could get him a shot at possible nomination. Or so he thought. Unluckily it wasn't to be for the Belgian in the end, as he came short in the fight for the last available spot. As a result, Loockx immediately terminates his cyclocross season to fully prepare for his new road adventure with TDT-Unibet.

"At first I didn't think I would be eligible for a World Championships selection, so I would stop racing in mid-January. But things have been going well lately, so it would be a nice reward. It is a dream to be there one day," Loockx recently told WielerFlits.

"If I am selected, I would like to continue my season until the World Championships." However, national coach Sven Vanthourenhout chose Witse Meeussen instead of Loockx to conclude the Belgian lineup.

"Zonnebeke was the last race of this cyclo-cross season for me," he now says via Instagram. "I can look back on a good season with great results, but the icing on the cake is missing. Now it's time to recharge the batteries. I look forward to new adventures with TDT-Unibet. I would like to thank everyone for their support during the cyclo-cross season!"
