Joran Wyseure has had a breakthrough victory today in Ruddervoorde. In the first round of the Superprestige Cup, the Crelan - Corendon rider managed to wrap up a perfect weekend of racing for the Belgian team and is the first leader of the competition.
The race started off with dry conditions and right from the start line a mass crash, involving Ryan Kamp but also around a dozen other riders. It immediately caused chaos and gaps opened up in the first lap with Michael Vanthourenhout and Joran Wyseure getting a gap over the rest.
The race, like the women's event, then had a slow down however and soon Lars van der Haar got himself back to the front and launched his own move. Gerben Kuypers also occasionally put himself in front stretching the race, but there were riders definitely saving some reserves for later. Later in the race Wyseure launched another attack and built a strong gap. This was eventually enough to take the win, in the final lap he struggled and was seeing the gap come down but held on to take a massive win for his palmarès. Niels Vandeputte managed to do a late overtake
