Joran Wyseure secured his first professional cyclocross
victory in style, winning the
Superprestige Ruddervoorde. The 23-year-old
Belgian from Roeselare, riding for the
Alpecin–Deceuninck Development Team,
crossed the finish line solo in what he described as an unforgettable moment.
“This is unbelievable,” Wyseure told
Wielerflits
after his win. “I was good last week in Beringen and had a fantastic start
today. Halfway through I had less feeling, but when it went quiet at the front
I knew, now I play all or nothing. And it was all, luckily!”
Wyseure timed his attack perfectly, taking control of the
race in its crucial moments. “I didn’t want to let it stall too much, otherwise
others would come back from the background. I then rode away on tiptoes and
immediately had a nice gap. I then chose my own pace and my own line. I did
make a slip, but luckily I was able to continue immediately. It’s incredible.
To win close to home is fantastic,” he added with a smile.
Wyseure’s victory at Ruddervoorde not only marks a
significant achievement in his young career but also hints at a promising
future in cyclocross. His tactical brilliance and perseverance helped him
secure a memorable win in front of the West Flanders crowd.
