"It was such a cool race" - Puck Pieterse on her victory in CX Overijse

It is a big day for Puck Pieterse. She recorded her first World Cup victory in Overijse. She took the lead in the first lap and maintained it till the end to score her third victory of the season.

"It was such a cool race," Pieterse said in the post-race interview. She continues to explain her strategy for the race. "But it was also really tough. After the start, I wanted to ride up front on the first descent to the pit lane. I know my downhill is very good, so that's why I took all the risks to build a lead. After that, I rode my own pace and took it a little more carefully."

During the first lap, Pieterse left van Empel in the dust. Though she didn't expect to gain so much lead in the first lap, she is thrilled with her first World Cup victory and is planning to celebrate it. "I actually expected it to be more evenly matched, But I'm glad it didn't turn out that way," Pieterse concluded.
