Joran Wyseure started the Belgian Championships somewhat under the radar, but considering the plenty question marks within the Belgian peloton, many considered Wyseure the dark horse of the competiton. And the 23-year-old lived up to the expectations by finishing second on the day.
"I was really looking forward to this race close to home," Wyseure tells Sporza. "I felt very strong, I had a great day like in Fayetteville. For a moment I thought I could fight for the win, but when Eli accelerated, I quickly realized that he was stronger. He may even have had a surplus."
Joran Wyseure likes tough conditions. He also stood on the podium in the mud of Gullegem and on the snow of Val di Sole. "I was laughing in the camper beforehand, especially when there was still some rain. It was all lined up for me."
