Team manager Jurgen Mettepenningen can sit back with satisfaction. While most cyclocross top riders seem to be choosing their days and need some rest, Eli Iserbyt continues to string together victories for Pauwels Sauzen-Bingoal.
"We are only the beginning of December, but the fact is that Eli needs a lot of competition. He is a cross rider par excellence, so he would like to take advantage of the cyclo-cross season to ride as many races as possible. I think Eli has made his greatest progress in his willpower. He fights for every meter, which is fantastic to see," Mettepenningen gushes over his star rider in an interview with WielerFlits.
"His professionalism during the weekdays. In terms of training, nutrition, care: he does everything at the highest level. Eli continues to train hard and follow his schedules very closely, with only one goal: to be back every weekend. At home he is well surrounded by his wife Fien, his family and the team are doing great. I can only say: the picture is completely correct."
"That's how it should be, right? If you go all the way to the limit on each cross, the barrel will empty much faster. It is a conscious choice to occasionally take a little rest during the cross itself, as soon as you feel that you can no longer win the race. Eli must choose his moments well and continue to use his common sense. That sometimes costs a chance of winning the day, but for us the rankings are more important."
