Will Primoz Roglic abandon the 2025 Giro d'Italia? Decision expected on Monday say Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe
Cycling
Stage 15 of the 2025 Giro d'Italia was a disaster day for Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe leader Primoz Roglic. Looking far below the level fans have come to expect of the Slovenian in recent years, the 2023 Maglia Rosa's dream of another Giro d'Italia victory have been left in tatters.
Dropped by all his GC rivals on the final climb of the day, Roglic was even struggling to keep pace with the domestiques tasked with helping him limit losses. As a result, the five-time Grand Tour winner was convincingly distanced at the finishing line, losing exactly a minute and a half to the Maglia Rosa Isaac del Toro, leaving the Slovenian clinging on to his place in the Top-10, now 3:53 down on the Mexican UAE Team Emirates - XRG star in the fight for the overall victory.
Given that Roglic was so surprisingly below the level of all the other general classification contenders, and that he's suffered three crashes in the last week, some have raised the suspicion that there are some bigger underlying issues at play with Roglic's poor performance on stage 15. Because of this, a rumour has been growing that Roglic might even abandon the race on the final rest day.

This topic and the question of where Roglic goes from here was put to Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe by the Slovenian media at the finish line of stage 15. According to Siol: "A decision is expected tomorrow whether the 35-year-old from Kisovce will be able to continue with the race, which enters a brutal final week on Tuesday with the most difficult stages in the Alps."
So it looks like being a wait and see kind of situation in regards to Roglic's future at the 2025 Giro d'Italia. As always, we'll strive to keep you up to date with any developments.

So which one of you expected Roglic to be dropped by 20 guys and lose Il Giro today? Definitely not me. I still didn't see any explanation from Red Bull. Bad day, illness or effects after yesterday's crash? 🤔 I just hope he won't abandon the race.#GirodItalia pic.twitter.com/ILydqJEonk

leedorney02-11-2026 - Watch the interview on youtube. I don't speak French. I do speak English and Spanish and you can hear it in his voice. Years ago LeMond had real personal problems I imagine in no small part because of Armstrong. then Armstrong goes round "full blast" re: LeMond having drinking and drug problems. The same way Andreu was expelled from mainstream cycling so was LeMond. On the positive side the clips of the ride and chatting with old teammates and was good. To seemed like a fun day and experience and good reason brush up his French.atom02-11-2026
- and another no-news article around the ‚2 tokyo jogging rounds‘ headline, this time spiced with some days old ‚news‘ that the LA and japan vacation trips come during or after the tdf route release. i am getting more and more annoyed by this time-stealing no-news crap. but who am i to complain? nobody forces me to come back for more ‚news‘ day after day …Ketterechts02-11-2026
- It would likely be a very steep section of 4.1 km, not changing the average gradient considerably, with the climb remaining 10.1 km at 11.8%. It would reach 20% on the gravel. It would start 1.6 km in, and finish with 4.2 km left to climb (before the short final descent)

- bravo! a rider likes jonas needs motivation and he needs to believe in being able to reach goals. he - like anybody else in the world - doesn't believe that he can win the tdf with pogi present. and what's it worth for when pogi is not there? second class victory only. he has checked all three grand tours, so what is left if not retire? the classics! go for it, jonas!Ketterechts02-11-2026
