Fem van Empel takes the European title in Namur

Fem van Empel has won the Cyclocross European Championships. She managed to separate herself from the rest in the last lap and secured the victory without much competition. This is her eighth victory of this season.

Clauzel Helene started the race with a nice lead. Fem van Empel was trying to catch Helene, but due to a mechanical failure, she had to change bikes, and it took some time which Kata Blanka Vas used efficiently and left Helene behind.

After struggling for some time, van Empel managed to catch up with the leading riders. She forced Sara Casasola to drop from the leading group and went on to attack Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado. Annemarie Worst met with a crash in the third lap.

With one last lap to go, Van Empel pedalled hard to create a 30-second gap from Carmen Alvarado. She crossed the finish line first and secured the victory. Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado finished 22 seconds behind her and took silver. Blanka Kata Vas finished third.
