A very exciting race in Ruddervoorde! Iserbyt takes the win after a last lap battle with Van der haar and Vanthourenhout who ended second and third
Eli Iserbyt has taken a brilliant victory in a very entertaining edition of Superprestige Ruddervoorde. Lars van der Haar and Michael Vanthourenhout complete the podium.
After a tight first couple of laps, Michael Vanthourenhout began to try and press home an advantage on lap 3. But having been unable to fully snap the elastic, he was soon joined at the front by Eli Iserbyt and Niels Vandeputte. By the end of lap 4, both Laurens Sweeck, Kevin Kuhn and Lars van der Haar had also regained contact.
Van der Haar and Vanthourenhout then survived a scare, the pair nearly having brought each other down on the sand. With more and more riders getting back into contact at the front, the race was there for anyone to grab at the start of lap 7.
Iserbyt seemed intent on being the one to take advantage, attacking hard. But just as he looked set to really make a gap, he got stuck and suddenly Iserbyt had company once again with van der Haar and Vanthourenhout.
Heading into the final lap, van der Haar held a narrow advantage over the Pauwels Sauzen - Bingoal pair. Iserbyt though had one last kick in his legs and buried himself in a brutal last lap attack. Despite a brave effort from van der Haar there was no catching Eli Iserbyt.
