Eli Iserbyt was struggling to secure wins in recent months, but he was finally able to come out on top at the X2O Trofee Baal race, earning his sixth victory of the season.
"I have to thank my entourage, the team and everyone who continued to believe in me," Iserbyt said in the post-race interview. His last victory was in October at Superprestige Ruddervoorde. "It was definitely not easy the last two months," said Iserbyt.
He further adds, "It was a thin line between quitting the season or continuing anyway. I already feel better again now. The win does me a lot of good. I also have to thank Michael because he really boosted me in the last lap to go for it again."
In recent months, Iserbyt has been dealing with back issues, and when big three arrived, he was unable to compete."When you have pain every day when you get up with it and go to sleep with it, it's very difficult. It's definitely not easy for me. Also, with the arrival of Mathieu , Wout and Pidcock, the rest are viewed more negatively. Still, I'm happy today to take the win. It all fell into place for once."
Tom Pidcock led for most of the race but made a mistake at the end which allowed Iserbyt to clinch the victory. "It was a very treacherous course. Everywhere, but especially at the end. Three laps before the end, I found a good lead on the last climb. I knew I could make a difference there if I was in the lead there," concluded Iserbyt.
