Although
Soudal - Quick-Step's
Yves Lampaert is currently in Argentina for the
Vuelta a San Juan, the Belgian is already casting an eye towards the upcoming spring classics and planning how to emerge successful.
"So far I can't complain about my winter and preparation. I'm doing my best and everything is going according to plan," Lampaert reveals in a discussion with Sporza. "It is difficult to say when I will be 100%, you don't choose those days. But I hope to be on the train right away and to be in good shape for the Omloop. The entire Classics period is important, with Roubaix as the conclusion. Hopefully, I can be 100% there."
With the Vuelta a San Juan full of riders to look out for, who has impressed Lampaert the most so far? "What Ganna did yesterday was phenomenal. I also thought Simmons' number was very strong. For us, the pieces of the puzzle have not yet fallen into place, but Jakobsen also sprints very strongly," he explains. "I think Remco overestimated himself a bit yesterday. He went a bit over the top at that height, but in the end he recovered well."
