After 9 months out due to injury, Nacer Bouhanni once again out of competition following head trauma at Trofeo Palma crash

Nacer Bouhanni fell victim to a violent crash last year at the Tour of Turkey, colliding with a spectator crossing the road which saw him fracturing a vertebrae that ended his season in April. He returned to competition this week in Mallorca, but is sidelined due to another.

"Victim of a fall in the final of the Trofeo Palma on the Challenge Mallorca, Nacer Bouhanni suffered a head trauma and has pain in the ribs which will require a check-up on his return to France," a team statement said.

The French sprinters was one of the favourites for this afternoon's race in Spain but crashed in the closing kilometers of the race, looking injured. Exams have confirmed head trauma and pain in the ribs.

Bouhanni had returned to racing this week at the Trofeo Alcudia and today was only his second race day, but the Arkéa Samsic is having to take some more time off the bike to recover from a new set of injuries.
