"We can’t wait to see what we can do" - Remco Evenepoel takes on first stage race of the year at Volta ao Algarve

After his stunning season opener last weekend at the Figueira Champions Classic, Remco Evenepoel's 2024 season takes the next step at the upcoming Volta ao Algarve.

Leading a strong Soudal - Quick-Step team, the Belgian's hopes of victory look promising. “Volta ao Algarve is a hard race, but the good thing about it is that the course stays pretty much the same every year, so you know what you are facing," analyses the team's sports director, Tom Steels, for Soudal - Quick-Step's official website.

Alongside Evenepoel, Soudal - Quick-Step bring the likes of Mikel Landa, Mattia Cattaneo, James Knox, Pieter Serry, Warre Vangheluwe and Louis Vervaeke to Portugal, the exact same team as helped the Belgian to victory over the weekend.

"We have two hard uphill finishes and a demanding time trial, which could play a big role in the way the general classification will look on Sunday," Steels concludes. "But we come here with a good team and we can’t wait to see what we can do this week.
