Vuelta organisers announce times to be taken 2.05km from finish of stage 9 due to mud concerns

Scenes of the muddy, cyclocross-esque finish on stage 9 of the 2023 Vuelta a Espana have been going viral and now, race organisers have made a big decision.

Due to concerns over the mud at the finale, times will be taken for the general classification riders at 2.05km from the finish line. This will surely alleviate some of the fears of riders battling for the Red Jersey but also should still ensure a thrilling finale!
