Jasper Philipsen has had himself a very successful year and arguably positioned himself as the premier sprinter in the World Tour peloton. That desire to win remains a strong one however.
“He has let us know that he still wants to win as much as possible, despite four stage victories and the green jersey in the Tour and a long season,”
Alpecin-Deceuninck's sporting manager Christoph Roodhooft told Het Nieuwsblad ahead of Philipsen's appearance at the
Bretagne Classic. “He currently has eleven victories, but noted that Pogacar has sixteen victories to his name. He secretly wants to try to become the victor and is therefore also taking part in the Tour of Turkey, for example.”
