The news that... was expected has come out. Mauricio Moreira, the Uruguayan rider who won the 2022 Volta a Portugal, and Clube Desportivo Fullracing (company behind Sabgal / Anicolor) have reached an agreement to terminate his contract with immediate effect, despite both parties having a contract until 2025.
The team led by Carlos Pereira issued a statement this Wednesday to inform of the termination, revealing that Mauricio Moreira has already reached an agreement with another team for next season, and that they are terminating the contract amicably to avoid litigation between the parties, as Mauricio Moreira was aware that he had a contract and nevertheless signed a commitment with another team.
Mauricio Moreira abandoned the 85th Volta a Portugal after collapsing in the middle of the Guarda stage, leaving those watching on television worried about the health of the athlete, who fortunately recovered and returned home to his family. After the end of the Volta a Portugal, won by his teammate Artem Nych, sports director Ruben Pereira had already left enigmatic words for Mauricio Moreira and his future within the Águeda structure, saying "He's the one who knows if he wants to continue racing or not".
The enigmatic words were deciphered today... Mauricio Moreira is no longer a Sabgal / Anicolor Cycling Team athlete.
