VIDEO: Tadej Pogacar given hero's welcome on return to Slovenia

Tadej Pogacar ended his wait for Tour de France glory in 2024, reclaiming the Maillot Jaune in stunning style and becoming the first man since Marco Pantani back in 1998 to complete a Giro d'Italia - Tour de France double in the process.

After only one rider managed to stay within ten minutes of the UAE Team Emirates leader at the Giro d'Italia, just the two (Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel ed.) managed to do so at the Tour de France, highlighting Pogacar's immense dominance as he powered to six stage wins in France, matching his tally from the earlier Grand Tour.

Upon his return to Ljubljana, Slovenia, Pogacar has somewhat unsurprisingly being given a true hero's welcome by thousands of his adoring fans and compatriot's in a ceremony in the city centre.

With his absence from the upcoming Olympic Games now confirmed, Pogacar was able to properly enjoy the celebrations and will soon after head on a beach holiday with partner Urska Zigart, who herself was controversially left out of the Slovenian lineup for the upcoming Paris games.
