The 15th stage of the Giro d'Italia will see the peloton head into the Valle d'Aosta for a hard day in the mountains, however before the peloton reached the rough terrain they are having to ride through vast flat roads, which have seen a mass crash including race leader Richard Carapaz.
The incident happened with 171 kilometers to go, only six kilometers into the day. Whilst riding on a straightforward flat road, the pile-up of riders has caused a clash, taking several riders down towards the back of the peloton. Richard Carapaz hit the deck, but crashing onto the grass apparently. Nevertheless, it took around a minute for the Ecuadorian to get back on the bike, although likely content that the consequences weren't bigger.
No-one seemed to be heavily injured from the crash, but it did see the likes of Simon Yates and Guillaume Martin involved aswell. In the meantime Carapaz has managed to regain contact with the peloton after a short chase.
