The World Championships were heavily marked by the lack of performance from Mathieu van der Poel that largely derived from an altercation with two minors in the team hotel the night before the race. The case has been taken to court, where he plead guilty and paid a fine before having his passport given back and was able to travel home.
As further details emerge, a video recorded by one of the two teenage girls - ages 13 and 14 - has been circling around social media with what appears to me footage of the altercation. The short video shows a young girl knocking at the door before both have entered their room, and briefly shows the figure of a man - believed to be van der Poel - storming into their room.

The footage seems to match perfectly the description that has been reported by the local media, and the altercation saw van der Poel push both girls, causing minor injuries. It is possible that the video is longer but does not show the full encounter, which has been detailed in the court declarations, as seen here.
