UAE Team ADQ, the women's version of Tadej Pogacar's team, found a great leader for the 2025 season. It is none other than the prolific Italian Elisa Longo Borghini, winner of this year's Giro d'Italia and current champion of her country, that at 32 years of age leaves the tranquility of Lidl-Trek to flip her career upside down with a move which should see her success rewarded with much more succulent salary.
The two-time winner of the Tour of Flanders, who also has the Paris-Roubaix in her palmares, is delighted with her change of scenery:
"I am delighted to share the news that I am joining UAE Team ADQ for the next three years. The team appealed to me the most from the beginning because it is an ambitious team and their goal is to grow every year."
"This fits my character. I'm an ambitious person and I'm looking forward to racing a lot of races with this team. I will try to defend my title in the Giro d'Italia, and I will try to win the Tour de France and one of the Ardennes. As a world-class rider, I also aim to be a role model and inspire the UAE women's community to lead a healthy lifestyle," she concluded.
I don't think she is Pogacar of the women. That will be Vollering when she keeps her head and receives team support
Elisa is a great cyclist, I love her style, she can definitely bring lightning and fire to the UAE scene. Looks like Lidl Trek is losing something valuable.
