The Tour de Romandie may be decided this afternoon as the peloton takes on several high mountains. The summit finish at Thyon 2000 should make very meaningful differences and Juan Ayuso, who is in the race lead, starts off without a certain plan for the
"I really didn't expect that. It's been 2 and a half very difficult months," Ayuso said this morning at the start, after pulling on the lead of the race this Saturday. "With the time I've had, I've tried to train as best I can. I just want to enjoy and tomorrow (Saturday) try to do my best to keep the shirt or to help Adam Yates."
The Spaniard only started his season this week in Switzerland, having suffered from a tendon injury that delayed his racing quite a lot. However back up to speed, he's impressed over the opening days of the race. Still he has talked about not having his best level, but that will be thoroughly tested today at Thyon 2000.
The tough weather conditions and brutal ascents will decide the overall classification likely, with the initial prologue and time-trial setting some early differences. UAE Team Emirates also has Adam Yates sitting in third place in the overall classification who will be a strong option.
