He will be supported in the mountains by
Chris Hamilton and
Kevin Vermaerke, very modest support but the Dutch team is not expected to go on the attack with the field level that is expected at the race. Bardet himself may refocus on stage wins or the KOM jersey depending on how the race evolves.
Sam Welsford perhaps delivers more confidence of netting a stage win, the Australian sprinter has shown quite a lot of speed this year, but he hasn't however won since early March. Nevertheless, having twice consecutively beaten the likes of Fabio Jakobsen, Sam Bennett and Fernando Gaviria at the Vuelta a San Juan, a stage win could be in the making.
John Degenkolb,
Alex Edmonson and
Nils Eekhoff will be his powerful leadout, whilst
Matthew Dinham completes the lineup.
